Rohlfing and his lead foremen Jeff Kneemiller really took ownership of the project, especially during the 24-hour period when the tie-ins were made to the existing plant. This was completed in the middle of the night when treatment flows were lowest, 2 hours ahead of schedule. This gave the plant a few additional hours to troubleshoot any issues between the interface between the old and new sections of the plants.

MSD Missouri River Treatment Plant
Rod Kadera (GMC’s superintendent) and his crew diligently worked with MSD’s operations when interfacing with their existing odor control system and various ductile iron pipe tie-ins to reduce plant down time and potential effluent discharges due to lack of capacity when introducing the new equipment.
Brent Krueger, KCI Construction Project Manager
MSD Grand Glaize Treatment Plant
I have enjoyed the benefit of Gross Mechanical’s expertise and quality workmanship on many difficult projects that I have managed over the past twenty years. Many jobs are completed on rigid schedules established by plant operations, many times with very crucial around-the-clock schedules to minimize any disruption to operations. They do an outstanding job of ensuring that projects are done on time and on budget and without complications. At times under adverse conditions, going the extra mile providing quality work and being responsive to the needs of our plant.
Mike Suermann, Powerhouse Lead Engineer
Your company recently completed a project at the Grand Tower Power Station. The project was a system of elevated bridges that spanned the old portion of the power plant ending at the Heat Recovery Steam Generators and a span from one Heat Recovery Generator to the other. The project was completed on time and on budget. There were no extra work orders required. There were no injuries.
John Scott, Grand Tower Power Station
In my procurement duties with Ameren, I have worked with Gross Mechanical Contractors on numerous construction projects both in Missouri and Illinois. They have always approached their work in a professional manner and they possess the understanding of many issues inherent in a complex construction project such as project management, scheduling, workforce productivity, and the necessary submittal of progress reports. More importantly to me in my procurement role, Gross Mechanical has been fair to deal with and I have found their integrity and honesty to be impeccable. I would highly recommend the utilization of Gross Mechanical Contractors.
Paul Moore, Buyer
Black and Veatch, an international engineering and construction company, recently completed the construction of a 600 megawatt combined cycle power plant in the Kansas City, Missouri area. Gross Mechanical played a major role in the construction of this project and I would highly recommend them for future work. We had not previously worked with GMC when this job went out for bid. However, after a lengthy and thorough selection process, we felt that GMC would be the best contractor for this job when we elected to contract this work using a T&M contract delivery system because of their established management systems, i.e. scheduling, cost accounting and tracking, and management reporting.
Gary Ferguson, VP

Recently, Gross Mechanical was successful at winning a large contract that was competitively bid to fabricate and install 1,000 feet of welded piping in pipe rack at over 40 ft. in elevation, routed through sensitive operating units within the refinery for the ULD2 Feed Lines Project. Their excellent execution strategy and planning effort, as outlined in their bid, along with competitive pricing and proposed schedule were keys in their being awarded this important, lump sum contract. In the field, they have performed this work efficiently and ahead of schedule with little extras. In closing, I would like to personally add that both Geoffrey and Michael Gross, acting as Project Managers for all of this work, are truly a pleasure to work with. They have always approached their work with a great deal of professionalism and dedication while affording my projects the level of attention to detail, flexibility and client oriented service that really sets Gross Mechanical apart from other contractors I have worked with during my 35 year career as a Project Engineer and Manager.

Gross Mechanical Contractors has been used on the ConocoPhillips CORE project by Fluor in several capacities during the conduct of the Project. The major effort they performed involved shop fabrication of pipe spools. They also provided some onsite presence to ensure the spools were fit for the purpose. In all cases, the work was first class. The quality of the spools were excellent. They met or exceeded the schedule in every case, and often times under heavy duress to meet very tight deadlines. Their attention to and compliance with all safety requirements was impeccable. Their overall level of cooperation with the Fluor management team was far beyond expectations. We would not hesitate to use utilize Gross for future work for which they are qualified and would recommend them without reservation.
Jack Royce, Procurement and Contract Lead
Through the years Gross Mechanical has earned these projects by competing in a bidding process, where they have been successful in providing a competitive price, and all required documents including insurance and bond information. Gross Mechanical has proven to be a reliable, trustworthy contractor in which I have relied upon to complete all awarded projects in a professional manner. Mr. Murphy believes in open communication in keeping the customer informed of job progress. Over the years Mr. Murphy has been flexible in scheduling work around weather conditions when this has been communicated to him. I have often asked for advice from Gross Mechanical on the best approach in solving a problem. I have learned that I always receive an honest answer, even if it is not in their best interest. I would recommend Gross Mechanical as a competent contractor whom operates with integrity, and delivers a quality product.
Jon Winslow, Operations Supervisor

Thanks to Gross Mechanical for excellent preparation and expediting work to ensure it got completed ahead of schedule. This job went off without a hitch because of all of you. This job is a perfect example of vendors, contractors and District personnel coming together and executing a flawless job. The work finished 3 hours ahead of schedule and we got the tanks back on line when Pump Station had to increase the flow.
Becca Coyle, Plant Manager
MSD St. Louis
GMC’s project management personnel assisted with project definition and execution plans. They developed project schedule and resource planning based on these project plans. Their project management tools, procedures, and methods clearly identified "pinch points" and improvement opportunities. GMC project execution plans made project tracking and reporting straightforward and accurate. Productivity and performance can be reviewed/tracked as necessary. While GMC is adept at several construction disciplines, I feel piping and mechanical are their strongest skills. We strongly recommend Gross Mechanical Contractors as a valuable business partner.
